ABOUT ME

Well, you found me! Welcome to my site.

Life is always presenting forks in the road. I usually choose the least traveled path and the one with the most unknowns. While many are content with the safety of the same-old same-old, I thrive with the challenge of learning and experiencing something completely new and different.

I am a true entrepreneur. I am willing to take risk and I am willing to fail. Some of my biggest failures have led to my greatest successes.

The diversity of my experiences have included; Military, Retail Management, Software Development, Business Ownership, Guitar Luthiere, Inlay Artistry, Indy-Car Motorsports, R&D Prototype Machining, Manufacturing Medical Spinal Implants, and Inventor.

3D Printing, High Performance Plastics PEEK (polyetheretherketone)

My latest project is a ground-up development of a high performance Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) 3D Printer. The printer is designed to produce three-dimensional medical implantable parts from PEEK filament.

3D models can be derived from a CT scan, to print rigid, high-performance, implantable, anatomically correct reconstructive supports.

Other complex structures can be achieved, such as first-of-its-kind 3D printed PEEK porous bone-like scaffolding, which can be used with spinal spacer/cage implants to encourage bone growth within the implant.

This is my most challenging project to date. Patented thermal controls, custom hardware/software, and high-precision movement are just a few highlights.

SPINAL IMPLANTS, INDY RACING, and more...

As early as I can remember, I have been taking items apart and putting them back together. At family gatherings my mother frequently brings up the story of the Mickey Mouse radio they bought for me for my 4th birthday. Instead of listening to the radio, I immediately took the radio apart. The shiny bright chrome screws on the back must have been too much of a temptation to find out what was behind the Mouse.

The drive and passion to understand how things work inspires me daily.

CUSTOM GUITARS

After the sale of my software company, LYNQS newmedia, I wanted to learn how to play guitar. I didn't know anything about guitars. I went to my local music store and tried every guitar they had on the wall. I walked out with a Parker Fly.

Inspired by Ken Parker, the designer of the Fly, I had to dig deeper into high tech instrument building. Instead of learning how to play guitar, I became more interested in how to design and build my own guitars.

I found Thomas Knatt, master luthier, MIT graduate, and someone who I felt I could learn from. At first Thomas was reluctant to take me on. I may have been too much rock-n-roll for this classical/flamenco/violin builder.

Thomas and his assistant Adam Zois instilled me with patience, encouraged me to design outside traditions, and developed within me the core building blocks that I would rely on to form Reith Guitars - Custom Luthier.

The interest of brewing my own beer started with a date suggested by my wife Angela to attend a "Grilled Cheese & Craft Beer" event featuring Victory Brewing from Downingtown, PA.

It was the first time I was exposed to American craft beer. WOW! I was instantly hooked. I couldn't stop thinking about beer. That evening, I suggested to Angela, we should plan a trip to Germany. We have to experience Oktoberfest. Leading up to our trip, we toured all the local breweries; Dogfish Head, Victory, and Yards.

I had to learn everything I could. I immediately purchased John Palmer's book "How to Brew", and I devoured anything I could find on the Internet.

Long story short, my basement is full of stainless steel, hoses, pumps, chillers, etc. I am 100% in.
